Yound dad, Kevin, shares some advice for young parents who are in or requesting temporary accommodation.

Here are the highlights from Kevin’s vlog:

“It is hard to ask for things that you know that other people have more control over it rather than you but these are things you are entitled to.”

Read about Kevin’s experience and advice of gaining housing for him and his son here.

Kevin also shared some organisations that can help with housing support below:

  • Coram Voice’s Always Heard service is a free advocacy helpline for children and young people. They can help children and young people at risk of homelessness and have a Freephone helpline and are also contactable via WhatsApp, text, email and online.
  • LawStuff is a website for young people to get advice about their legal rights (it is run by Coram’s Children’s Legal Centre) and includes information on homelessness and what help children and young people can get with housing
  • Just for Kids is a charity who support, advice and offer legal help for young people in difficulty.

Kevin also shared his experience of being a young father going through the pre-proceeding process here.
