Some of the changes to our bodies after giving birth might come as a surprise.
Here Ellie, mum to Isaac, shares how breastfeeding changed her body.
If you can’t watch the video, here’s what Ellie says:
So after you have a baby, definitely breastfeeding changes your body a lot.
So you’re boobs get really engorged at first and that’s quite a surprise. I think a lot of people don’t expect that. And then afterwards the shape of them can change and you obviously have stretch marks and everything – not everyone does.
At first I was a bit too tired to care but it was hard having your body change so much especially when none of your friends have gone through that.
But I’d just advice other young Mums to think about what they’ve done, they’ve made a whole human being with their body, which is amazing.
And your body is going to look different after that because it’s a massive process that you’ve been through.
But it does go back eventually even though it is quite hard to have your body change like that.
I found breastfeeding helped quite a lot to help lose the weight after having a baby because you burn quite a lot of calories.
Breastfeeding did help quite a lot with how I saw my body ‘cause you lose quite a lot of the weight from it because you’re burning calories and also ‘cause your body is still doing this amazing thing.
You sort of see your body to nourish your child with which is completely different to how you saw it before. So that helped me quite a lot.
