Do/did you share a bed with your baby (when younger than 12 months)?
Sophie
I did, I did for both children. One because my son would wake up, every 45 minutes to an hour for a feed and it was the only way I could get to sleep. Delilah gets really shy at night she gets really anxious. She has night terrors and she would wake up quite regularly.
Hollie
No, I did accidently she was six weeks and under but then she slept through so I never took her out of her cot or crib. Whenever I did it was accidental but if she did cry and I was soothing her I would have her on my chest, just to pat her off and then I would fall asleep too.
Sharmika
Yes I shared the bed with Riley mostly accidentally because I was breastfeeding him and I would fall asleep, so yeah we would co-sleep like that otherwise he would sleep in his cot.
What made you decide to do this?
Hollie
I think I heard too many horror stories, which is why I didn’t want to, but whenever I did it was accidental but if she did cry and I was soothing her I would have her on my chest, just to pat her off and then I would fall asleep too. It would never be for hours, I would always wake myself up and then I would put her back in her crib.
Sharmika
I think the main reason I would fall asleep was when I was breastfeeding. I would get quite tired so that was the main reason. It was comfortable.
Sophie
She slept a lot more smoothly and a lot better when she was next to us and I don’t see a point in distressing a child if they are sleeping well.
