Young mum, Libby talks about introducing a vegan diet to your children and her daughter Delilah’s vegan diet.
Here are the highlights from Libby’s vlog about introducing a vegan diet to your children:
“If she goes for a day or a couple of days and she doesn’t eat much I just don’t worry about it and I just you know move onto the next day where she might eat like three times the amount.”
Read Libby’s story:
So Delilah has quite a specialised diet in the sense that she’s a vegan. She loves tomato pasta and that is great because it is so easy making tomato sauce. She is easy, she has become a bit strange with vegetables. I have to like blend them and put them in things. Mostly she is fruitarian, she loves fruit. She eats like eight portions of fruit a day and when I was pregnant my main thing was for her to enjoy plain food as well and like the basis of everything.
I didn’t want her to get really picky and like something that was massively spicy or massively extravagant. So she is good at the basics and then from the basics I feel like she has branched out now and likes more meals. She is really healthy but food is a really massive thing for me and I wanted her to be really healthy and enjoy food, and I think that she does.
When she was younger like seven months or six months or even when she was like 12 months, if she went throughout the day she didn’t eat, I would be like oh my goodness she needs to eat something even if it’s Weetabix or porridge, where as now, if she goes for a day or a couple of days and she doesn’t eat much I just don’t worry about it and I just you know move onto the next day where she might eat like three times the amount. So I feel she always works herself out in the long run with food.
