Women are referred to mother and baby units for a range of reasons. In young mum Leanne’s case, she didn’t know where to go or who to turn to when she moved out of her mum’s house.
Leanne, who became mum to Aveya at 17 spoke about her positive experience of living in a mother and baby unit and how it helped her overcome her depression.
Here are the highlights from her vlog:
“If they never helped me I wouldn’t be here right now I wouldn’t know where I could’ve ended up.”
“Because we share like the same similarities it was easier for me to talk to them and that’s when the depression kind of eased down as well cause I was opening up to them they would open up to me.”
